Chris Tyson - PGA Professional Westbury Golf Club

Chris Tyson
PGA Golf Professional
Westbury Golf Club
I started playing golf and competing as an amateur in North Yorkshire in the 1980s, where I was fortunate enough to be coached and by Steve Robinson, the current performance coach for Matt Fitzpatrick and the England women’s national squad. I turned professional in 1991 and qualified as a PGA Golf Professional in 1994, following which I have been lucky enough to compete and win in a range of tournaments, as well as competing in the Volvo PGA Championship at Wentworth.
As a professional I have always enjoyed coaching golfers of all ages, skill, and ability, ranging from beginner to golf professional level. I take a very individualized approach to my coaching as I do not believe that one size fits all. My approach results in improved performance and confidence, increasing your belief in yourself as a golfer. This was evident in my most recent Golf Professional role at Osborne Golf Club on the Isle of Wight, where I consistently enabled members to reduce their handicap, and to win club and other competitions and tournaments.
Whilst I still compete when I can, I now choose to focus on my coaching offer, as I find that playing a key part in people developing their golfing skill, and importantly their love for the sport, is the most rewarding element of my job. I coach all genders, ages and ability, offering both individual and group lessons. Over recent years I have also developed skills in coaching children and adults with learning difficulties and neurodevelopmental disorders, such as autism and ADHD. I have also run junior coaching programmes and been invited by schools to provide introductory golf coaching as part of the sports curriculum, an opportunity which I passionately believe will help to motivate and sustain future generations of golfers.
I have recently moved with my family to Wiltshire in summer, where I am grateful for the opportunity to continue my mission to improve both your skill and your love of golf at Westbury Golf Club.
I am therefore now offering coaching and playing lessons on the golf course, which will also include coaching on the driving range once open. I am available from October.
Please give me a ring or email me, and we can discuss what you are looking for and what might suit your own individual needs. Spend your autumn and winter getting you game ready for Spring and let’s keep you playing whatever the season. I look forward to hearing from you and supporting you on your journey.
